In our article about manuka honey and ginger tea, you learned how unique manuka honey is, as well as a few ways it can be beneficial to your health. In this article, we will take a look at some more ways manuka honey can aid in your wellbeing, especially in the form of manuka honey and kava tea.

Manuka honey is different because it can heal and kill bacteria and has a high antioxidant content. Here are some more ways manuka honey can help with your wellbeing.

Oral Health

Our mouths contain both good and bad bacteria. In America, periodontal disease is very prevalent in adults 30 and over. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that about 50% of the adult population in America has periodontal disease.

Research has determined that manuka honey can target the bacteria that cause plaque, tooth decay, and inflammation of the gums.

In a 2004 clinical trial, participants either chewed a honey chew made from manuka honey or sugar-free gum for 10 minutes after each meal.

Interestingly, at the end of the study, researchers discovered that the participants who chewed the honey had reduced plaque and gum bleeding. The manuka honey was able to target and reduce the number of bacteria.

Sore Throats

Because manuka honey has antibacterial and antiviral properties, it can coat the throat, kill bacteria and reduce inflammation.

In a study with cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy for neck and throat cancer, researchers found that patients who consumed manuka honey had decreased Streptococcus bacteria, which causes a sore throat.

Furthermore, One study found that manuka honey helped reduce inflammation and painful ulcers in the esophagus and digestive tract of chemo patients. Manuka honey was able to reduce the harmful bacteria that causes this painful condition.

Manuka Honey Kava Tea

Kava is an herb that has been used for centuries as natural medicine. It is a natural anxiolytic and is used to treat anxiety and insomnia. Also, kava may be able to protect neurons from damage and reduce pain.

Kava makes a good companion with manuka honey. By drinking manuka honey and kava tea, you have a tonic that:

  • Relieves stress and anxiety
  • Kills harmful bacteria
  • Helps with oral hygiene
  • Relaxes the mind and body

Manuka honey and kava make an excellent bedtime tea that can help repair inflammation during sleep. It’s a great addition to your wellness regime.
